Rugbytech was first established as a brand in 1989 by Alan Zondagh, a South African and world renowned rugby coach. Rugbytech was the first company to design and launch protective shoulder pads to world rugby. The 1995 World Cup in South Africa was the first time Rugbytech took an international standing where twelve out of the sixteen teams competing used our protective pads. Thereafter, the brand has gone from strength to strength and in 2001 Rugbytech was the official protective wear supplier to the British & Irish Lions tour of Australia. The evolution of Rugbytech gained considerable momentum after being acquired by Irish promoters in 2002. The brand grew from manufacturing protective gear to developing a dynamic and stylish clothing range supplying the rugby fraternity, both on and off the field.
